Oops I Pinned It and Did It Again!

Yep, I did it again. I pinned it and actually did it. I'm proud that I'm actually using pinterest for what it's for. I  saw a recipe for rainbow cupcakes a few weeks back. I thought they were pretty neat, but I didn't really have a reason to put that much effort into a cupcake. However, I finally found an excuse to make them when I planned the Back to School Bash for my Junior Church kiddos.
Rainbow Cupcakes
I bought 3 boxes of white cake mix, but that number's totally not necessary. I made them just like I normally would and split the mixes into four different bowls

Then I added food coloring to each bowl. I chose blue, yellow, green, and pink(I would have rather had red, but I didn't wanna add 40lbs of food coloring so I gave up at 20lbs). Then, I added a little bit of each color of cake mix into the cupcake pan.

I popped them into the oven and voila'.

I used a Pampered Chef icing tool that I would normally use to decorate cakes, to icing my cupcakes. To complete the look of my rainbow cupcakes I added sprinkles, because what's a cupcake without sprinkles.

Chocolate Cake Batter Cookies

Last night David came over and we made some pretty delicious cookies. I found this recipe yesterday when I was searching chocolate cookies on pinterest, because I know David is a big chocolate fan. This recipe was pretty easy, however our cookies did not look like the picture at all. If you are like me, you will probably doubt this recipe because I found it hard to believe it would turn out like a cookie. It actually is more of a brownie consistency rather than a cookie. The recipe says to use either 1/2 or 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, and I just used what the box called for.  I added a few peanut butter chips and semi sweets to the mix as well.  I would definitely make it again, but it wasn't the best cookie that I had ever tried in my life. It would be a good recipe to use for a quick get together or just to snack on something sweet.

Billy Jack and Neka Get Married!

The first Saturday in August two of my friends got hitched in Johnson City. I've known Billy basically my whole life. He was one of the older ones I looked up to in the youth group at church, and he soon became a really good friend. Neka and I went to high school  and played soccer together my junior year. I was super excited about this wedding because there was going to be dancing, and we all know I like to boogie! Erin, Drew, David and I carpooled to the wedding and I enjoyed spending the evening with them. The wedding was in downtown Johnson City, and I loved the rustic feel of the venue. They had a very simple wedding, but it was very them and very beautiful. Neka looked gorgeous and Billy didn't look half bad either. They had Firehouse at the wedding, which was also a major plus!!

Saying Goodbye to Lil' Blue

This past week I finished getting the rest of my things out of my little blue house at school. I've decided to spend my last year of school at home. Although I would much rather be able to stay at school with my friends and roommates I know that this is the best decision for me as an adult, weird. I wanna teach back home, and because student teaching is so important in getting a job I know that home is where I should student teach. Because of my move back home I also won't be able to serve with the Well this year, but the Lord gave me an opportunity to serve with Junior church at my home church. I will greatly miss my roomies! I lived with both Jillian and Ashley my sophomore in a suite style dorm my sophomore year, and Ashley and I basically lived with Jillian our freshman year. We made many memories this year including:

  • getting scared because I turned my lamp off and back on and then off again on our very first night in the house.
  • something to do with Simply Apple and crazy dance nights
  • tears over boys and school

  • doing absolutely nothing the first week of school the second semester
  • lifetime movies...lots of lifetime movies
  • blowing up peeps

  • something to do with cigars
  • cookout milkshakes
  • learning about interesting things in nursing school

  • when bad things happen we all call our brothers
  • good talks with Papaw Bill
  • crazy photo shoots while lasagna is cooking on Sunday afternoon
  • just mainly having the company of yelling across the small common area and talking to my best friends
