Encouraging

"Our earthly eyes are so limited because they don't allow us to see what is happening in the heavenly realm." Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl

We began our womens study on Sunday nights a few weeks ago. I have really been missing this type of atmosphere over the past couple of months. Each week we meet and watch a short video clip of Lysa (the author) teaching us. Then, we do short discussion questions about the video and share what spoke to us and that sorta thing. Throughout the week it has a daily devotional/questions/personal study, whatever you wanna call it. You can also purchase the book to help you dig deeper into the study. Julie purchased the book since she as leading it and she let me borrow for week two since I would be leading that week because she was gone. I really enjoyed the book and it did help you dig deeper into the study, so I purchased in on my kindle.

I really have enjoyed the study, it has probably been one of the best I've done in a while. Even still, yesterday was one of those extra special days. One of those days when the Lord is like BOOM, dude this is directly for you, wahoo! Hallejuah one on one times with the Lord. It was one of those like..man, God you knew exactly what I needed to hear. Like my goodness, my God, he is The Man!!

I read a chapter from the book that goes with the study for the day that I was on for the week. It went along with last weeks video in which she talked about David. Now, David was a dipstick. Like a real big diptick. But when you hear David..you don't think "oh he was a dipstick"..you think "man after God's own heart". Pretty cool right? The second thing that comes to your mind is that he killed Goliath. Oh, and the Lord made him a king too by the way. Anyway, Lysa (I don't know why I'm referring to the author by first name basis because I definitely don't know her) started out when Saul told Jesse to bring his sons out to be chosen from because one of them was supposed to be king. Only he left David at home. Now if I was David, I would feel like a big huge loser, but that isn't where it ended. Anyway, despite his Dad leaving him at home, David is annoted as king. God had it under control, in his plan.  However, guess where God sent him back. He didn't send him to a training camp, he didn't make him an intern under a big important king trainer guy, no place to get "adequate experience to prepare him for what he was called to do". He goes back to the sheep. He goes back to where he was? Why in the world would God send him  here? (how many time do we ask ourselves the same questions about our own lives?)  Now if I was David, I would be like "Come on, this is where I am suppose to be preparing myself?" Anyway, you know what happens next. David ends up  killing  the giant, he gets the job done. While God wa preparing him, with the sheep, David didn't complain (at least it doesn't say he did). He didn't question God. God's prepartion place for David was exactly where he was supposed to be. (because God has it under control like that)

At this time in my life, I don't really now why God has me here. What am I doing at the place I am now? What do I do now, when I thought I had everything planned out just right? "It is tough to be in a place of waiting. Waiting can sometimes consume a peron with questions, wants, and worries." If that doesn't describe me at this time in my life, I don't know what does. I don't want to wait, it is so hard to not worry, and I have so many questions because I just don't understand. I don't understand why God wants me here...now.

Now I have heard and read Palm 23 numerous times in my life, but I've never really had it make a major impact on my life. Quite honetly, I've never really gotten it. (all of this to come partly comes from my mixed up ways of understanding things with the authors help, the ideas are my way of understanding the verses with her help).
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want."
Lord, you are my leader...please help me not to want, help me to be patient in you. That is my prayer. "Sometimes I forget that God is doing significant things around me and in me, even while I'm waiting(Terkeurt)."
Pslams 23 continued... " he makes me lie down in green pastures"
this time, right now..is to rest my heart and my mind in the Lord so that I can be prepared for the future. Just like David could rest while he was tending to the sheep.
"he leads me beside quiet waters"
so that i can reflect upon his word and my prayers and Him alone.
 "he restores my soul"
only he can do thi only he can restore in me what I need to fill me completely.
"he guides me in path of righetousness"
only he can help me make the right choices that I need to make, I can't do this without him.
"for his name's sake", because it is ALL for Him
. I am where I am because God has it planned. I hope that I can see what David chose to see. I hope that I can see the greater good in his plan, even though I may not like where I am right now.

Friday's Letters

Dear TPA, You are the scum of the Earth. You make me throw up (this is actually true because I totally threw up after school)! Who cares about conceptual flunecy understanding of procedural academic language..nobody...nobody gives a hoot about it at all. I cannot wait until you are done and I never have to look at you or think about you again! I hate your stinkin guts!

Dear PB Eggs, You are my weakness. I think you are right about there with Oreo Cheesecake. I have eaten so many of you because you are so good. However, you are so bad for me....so so bad. Also, it supports the church, so what's a girl to do.

Dear work, I do not want to visit you on Sunday to close you. I do not want to see you and then have to teach the next time, plus miss bible study. What good is my complaining doing anyway?

House Sitting

This week Erin and I got to house sit for a couple we know. We didn't really do much work for them at all, which made it super awesome. Basically, we got their mail, fed their fish, and vacuumed. It was nice to have a semi-sleepover all week long. All we did was go to school everyday for student teaching and come home and work on the TPA and lesson plans. We did have "fun", if you wanna call it that. We got groceries after school Monday for the week. We made chicken ranch tacos with beans and rice when we got home and we also got stuff to make spaghetti, including meatballs. Other than that nothing too exciting happened until Wednesday. We knew they were calling for snow and we were really banking on a snow day.  Well at 6:15 the next morning, neither one of us had text messages from our mentor teachers telling us school was cancelled. We looked outside and the ground had snow, and we both thought "What the heck?". So I get on facebook and nothing. We were so angry, I kind of wish I got to have an outsider experience to watch the disappointment we showed. So we turn it on the radio news channel to listen for school closings, and nothing. More disappointment, only much worse because we heard it officially because they kept saying "county schools on a regular schedule". So we grudgingly got out of bed and in the shower. Immediately after we got out of the shower we hear the news..."county schools are out". I mean really? That didn't make us sad at all! I don't think I have ever been so excited to hear those words. Not that I dread school, I just needed a break to rest and catch up on school work. So we put our hair in towels and ate breakfast. We then fell asleep till nine watching Boy Meets World. We didn't do anything exciting on our snow day but Zumba, get Asian Express, and watch Playing for Keeps. It was still a good and productive snow day. The rest of the week was anticlimactic except for Eliza coming to visit on Friday night in which we weren't so productive but we did eat some yummy Mexican. Overall, it was a nice week of a different change of pace!

Bright Sunshiney Day

Two weeks ago I got the most glorious package in the mail from a wonderful lady. I've had a rough month and she knew just what I needed. I got home from opening at work and I had a package. Now, who doesn't get excited about packages? I am the type of person who goes crazy over a card in the mail. Unfortunately, unlike when I was little, getting something in the mail isn't always exciting. It is usually a bill or something boring of that sort. However, packages are always exciting (well maybe not always, like if it's textbooks are something). Aimee is just wonderful. She is always so thoughtful and actually does the thoughtful things that she thinks of. Some of us can think of all these kind and thoughtful things for people, but we never follow through. Aimee has a gift of just doing small things for people that can make a big impact on their day. I opened my package to find all things yellow. In it was a package full of sunshine!!
  1. A sweet "thinking of you" card. Most people think cards are dumb, but I love cards. If you have ever given me a card, more than likely I still have it.
  2. Burtsbee Chapstick- a girl can never have too much chapstick, especially this girl. Getting Burtsbees is extra special because I always lose chapstick so I buy the cheap kind.
  3. Peanut M&M's- chocolate makes every bad day better
  4. Yellow Buttons- I have learned through student teaching that you can use almost anything in the classroom. I will certainly find something to use these cute buttons for.
  5. Yellow hand sanitizer- I have this on my school bag. Kids are germy, enough said.
  6. yellow fingernail polish- I can't wait to open this up for spring time weather.
  7. yellow notepad- I'm a student teacher, I can never have enough notepads

Thanks Aimee for making my day much brighter with you thoughtfulness  So thankful for the kind lady that you are and the impact you have made on my life!
